What do you mean by Codependency?

Codependency is a term referring to dependent relationships which are a category of dysfunctional assisting association or relationship where one individual supports or empowers another individual's addiction, reduced mental health, immaturity, carelessness, or under accomplishment. Among the fundamental features of codependency, the most common subject is an extreme dependence on other people for consent and individuality. The notion of codependency overlays with, but technologically advanced in the mainstream individually from, the older psychoanalytic perception of the passive reliant personality which is attributing oneself to a resilient personality.Dependency is deep-rooted in psychological literature. Whereas the olden psychoanalytic philosophy underlined the oral character and physical basis of dependency, social learning philosophy measured a bent to be developed by learning and experience, and ethological attachment philosophy suggested that attachment or affectional connection is the foundation for dependency. All the three theories have added to the theory of dependent personality disorder as demarcated by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders or DSM of the American Psychiatric Association. The passive dependency personality was categorized by vulnerability, rejection, and indeterminacy, and was reflected as a subtype of passive violent personality. Basically, these people move towards others by acquiring their consent and affection, and unintentionally control them through their reliant style. They are selfless, upright, extremely faithful, and are always ready to help despite personal dishonor. Approval from others is more significant than respecting themselves.
